Sibling Talk
Theis Project | UI/UX
As a senior in Portland State’s graphic design program, each student develops a two-part thesis project on a topic of their choosing. The first part involves selecting and researching a topic. The second part requires applying the insights gained during the research process. For my thesis project, I focused on siblings and what shapes their relationships. To put my project into action, I created a website called Sibling Talk.
What is Sibling Talk?
Sibling Talk is a digital space that aims to help strengthen connections between siblings through, exploration, interaction, and connection.
Part 1: Research
After conducting some initial research, I came up with the thesis question: What shapes sibling relationships?
This question guided my research, revealing a variety of factors that influence sibling relationships, with some being more prominent than others. These key factors are:
Shared Experience
Birth Order
Parental Favoritism
Thesis Prospectus
The Thesis Prospectus is a culmination of my research for my thesis project. It also helps to outline a plan for the continuation of the project. Within the prospectus, I broke the various forms of research into multiple sections so that it’s easier to understand.

Part 2: Website
The goal of Sibling Talk is to enhance appreciation, deepen understanding, and foster growth and meaningful connections between siblings. The website offers a variety of activities to achieve this.
The website is divided into several sections:
Explore
Interact
Connect
Each section provides different opportunities for siblings to engage and strengthen their bond.
